The Senior Software Engineer Role

As the 5th engineer at Bytewax, you will work as a part of the foundational engineering team to design and build our product and delight our early users. Bytewax is an infrastructure company and you will be building the platform that our customers will use to successfully productionize machine learning. You will be responsible for core product features.

We thrive on technical challenges and work to build developer delight into every part of Bytewax.

This is an incredible opportunity to be a foundational member of our engineering team and work on every part of the product: from coming up with new ideas to implementation and using customer feedback to iterate on our product.

In this role you will:

• Collaborate with other designers and developers to build and maintain user-facing APIs, CLI tools, Bytewax SDK, and other core platform components.
• Improve our codebase in meaningful ways that will have positive impacts on our users and the business.
• Make an impact on the team by sharing and championing some of the best practices in Python and Rust development.
• Triage bugs quickly and take your time to solve hard problems well.

• You are interested in the exciting field of machine learning; prior machine learning experience is welcome, but not required.
• You love creating smooth and powerful user experiences for other developers, whether they’re just getting started or have years of experience.
• You enjoy mentoring and collaboration, sharing what you know, and balancing the perspectives of the team.
• You have experience with dynamic programming languages like Python, and experience or interest in working with systems languages like Rust.
• You are curious, passionate, and enjoy learning new things; we value these traits over being a technical expert in any one thing.
